Just ask. Really, it's OK to ask. Send a polite message to the member requesting access, or send a strilka with the message "Can I see your private picture section?" (below):

Check back later to see if you can view that person's private pictures. If you can, great. If you didn't receive access, no big deal. Keep your chin up!
